Secretary of State John Kerry made this statement on NBC’s Meet The Press this week, “You just don’t invade another country on phony pretext in order to assert your interests,”
In discussing Russian troops entering Ukraine Kerry went on to say, “This is an act of aggression that is completely trumped up in terms of its pretext. It’s really 19th century behaviour in the 21st century.”
Pretext aside, consider for a moment the overall U.S. foreign policy that has over 700 bases around the world and has a drone strike policy across the middle east and northern Africa. For the U.S. to have this policy and yet become enraged that Russia would cross a land border into an area of Russian speaking people in Ukraine, just rings of hypocrisy.
